Mother certainly knew best when she encouraged her son, Christian Cobb, to apply for the Good Vocations program. Christian’s mother worked for Goodwill years ago and knew the program would be a good fit for Christian, who is hearing impaired.
Christian worked with a Goodwill Career Development Specialist who assisted him with job placement and counseling. Goodwill also arranged for an interpreter to help Christian navigate the hiring process as he was offered a custodial job through Good Vocations.
Christian is known by his teammates for his willingness to help no matter the task.
“I can always count on him to do a great job,” said Good Vocations Custodial Supervisor Yekaba Gebru. “Whatever is asked of Christian, it gets done.”
Christian’s commitment to the job is also evident to the base employees who work in the buildings he services. While his speech may be limited, Christian exudes contagious positivity and is quick to flash a smile.
