Clayton came to Goodwill Industries nine years ago through the local Job Connection Career Center at the encouragement of his mother. He’s since received on-the-job training and employment, with potential to advance in his work.
He’s not only developed his potential in the workplace, but Clayton has also tapped
into his inner strength and stamina.
Clayton and his family lost everything in a house fire. Among their belongings that had to be replaced, Clayton’s work uniforms also were destroyed. Despite the time and energy his family invested to rebuild their lives, Clayton never missed a single day of work. According to AbilityOne Office Manager June Flowers, Clayton’s commitment to the contract and his tasks never wavered.
“He’s displayed incredible professional and personal growth [over the years],” said Flowers. “He’s remained positive, dependable and continues to serve as a bright spot for coworkers and clients alike.”
Clayton’s inner brightness and determination have shown throughout his career, even when faced with tragedy.
Clayton’s Words of Empowerment:
I’ve gained independence, can manage life better and am not letting my disability define me.
