Dectrick Johnson

Dectrick Johnson has been with Good Vocations since 2014 and has grown personally and professionally within the AbilityOne program and the on-the-job training he’s received.

Dectrick first joined the Fort Gordon team as a night stocker. Over the years he has moved from stocker to custodian and is not afraid to take on new challenges. At the same time, Dectrick is navigating life as a single parent, and doing his best to balance home life and work. He’s learned to deal with his frustrations, both at home and on the job, one step at a time, working through each issue he faces thoroughly, so nothing is left incomplete.

“Dectrick has been corrected on occasion but never makes excuses, always taking ownership for his actions,” said Project Manager Patrick Ross, who has served as Dectrick’s supervisor for more than six years. “He continues to learn from his mistakes and strives to do the best in all of his responsibilities.”

Patrick describes Dectrick as very quiet but observant. He calls him the modern-day dedicated and loyal employee. One who makes the best of every situation and keeps a can-do attitude.

“He always asks questions when he is in doubt, so he will know the correct way to do things,” Patrick said.

When asked to do something new, Dectrick replies: I got it. Will get to it. No problem.
